Student Summit

One of the most unique aspects of IFoRE is the integration of students and professionals from across the globe to connect and launch the next generation of great scientists. Students, alongside professionals, are encouraged to propose and lead Key Thought sessions throughout the week.

Students will take center stage on Saturday at IFoRE. The Student Summit is a celebration of student scholarship and research excellence. High school, undergraduate, and graduate students across all disciplines are invited to share their research through oral and poster presentations. Throughout the day, students will present their research and take part in unique opportunities to network with peers and professionals from across the globe. Attendees can make connections with potential employers and school representatives at the IFoRE College, Graduate School, and Jobs Fair. Saturday evening will culminate in the IFoRE Awards Banquet where top student presenters will receive monetary prizes and membership in Sigma Xi.

Research Categories

The Student Summit accepts submissions in most areas of research. In addition to disciplinary categories, IFoRE ‘22 will showcase interdisciplinary projects that address global research challenges. Visit the abstract submission form to view the complete list of categories and submit your abstract.

IN-PERSON Awards

Top in-person poster and oral presenters in each research category and education level will receive a medal, a monetary award, and nomination for associate membership in Sigma Xi with the first year of dues waived. Student participants may vote for the Student Choice Award, sponsored by the District of Columbia Chapter of Sigma Xi, throughout the conference. All in-person awards will be presented at the Saturday evening IFoRE Awards Banquet.

Virtual Mentoring

For those students who are not able to attend in person, IFoRE welcomes participation in the virtual Student Summit. A link to submit your research to the virtual presentation hall will be provided upon registration. Students will present their research online and take part in a special session of virtual mentoring, where they’ll receive professional feedback and guidance from established experts in their field of research. Virtual participants are not eligible to receive Student Summit awards.
