+ What is the location of the conference venue?

IFoRE '22 will take place at The Hilton Mark Center Hotel, located at 5000 Seminary Road, Alexandria, Virginia, 22311. The nearest airport is Reagan International Airport (DCA), approximately eight miles from the hotel.

+ Are there discounted hotel rooms available for the conference?

Yes! Sigma Xi has secured a nightly room rate of $135 plus tax at the Hilton Mark Center Hotel. IFoRE attendees can reserve rooms by visiting the IFoRE room block registration page.

+ Why should I attend the IFoRE Conference in Person?

We do encourage in-person attendance to get the full impact of the IFoRE conference and to have access to all sessions. It is a great opportunity to network and share ideas with your peers. We have some exciting events planned that can only be experienced in person, such as the GIAR Reception, networking events, and the Saturday evening awards banquet, featuring entertainment by Heather Massie on the Life of Hedy Lamar. In-person attendees will also receive one complimentary IFoRE T-shirt.

+ If I am only able to attend virtually, what will I have access to at IFoRE?

We know that not everyone is able to attend in-person and we are happy to offer a virtual conference option for remote attendees. The virtual registration will give you access to the plenary sessions, Award Winner talks and a limited number of IFoRE workshops. .

+ Can I see what sessions will be presented before I arrive on site?

Yes. The IFoRE schedule and agenda for sessions will be posted online, and updated as events become confirmed leading up to the conference.

+ Can I purchase extra event tickets?

Additional tickets for the GIAR Reception, Walston Chubb Award Luncheon, Young Investigator Luncheon, or the Closing Award Banquet are available at registration.

+ What is #SciComm Sunday?

#SciComm Sunday is a special event on the final day of IFoRE that includes a luncheon and special sessions focused on the art of science communication and research presentation. #SciComm Sunday is included with your full conference registration. A $100 registration fee is available for #SciComm Sunday for participants who are not attending the rest of the IFoRE conference.

+ Is the STEM Art & Film Festival included in my IFoRE conference registration?

Yes! In fact, the STEM Art & Film Festival is free and open to the public on Sunday, November 6. IFoRE attendees can also visit the festival exhibits at designated gallery times throughout the conference.

+ What is the registration cancellation policy?

Cancellations must be received in writing by October 15, 2022. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after this date. Refunds are subject to a $50.00 processing fee and will be issued no sooner than four(4) weeks after the meeting. Written cancellations may be sent via e-mail to finance@sigmaxi.org.

+ What is the recommended attire for the conference?

General business attire is recommended.
